Whatever Tickles My Fancy

August 31, 2010

It's day six, and I get to pick out whatever tickles my fancy... so how about a joke?

There's been a certain joke circulating around my area for the past five or six years- everyone affectionately (or not so affectionately) refers to it as 'T Mary Poppins Joke'  Here it goes:

Mary Poppins went into a restaurant and ordered califlower and cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. She is brought her food, and the waiter says to her, "You may leave any comments you may have by the comment pad at the door."    Mary Poppins enjoys her califloewr and eggs quite well, but the eggs were... a little bit off. Maybe they were burnt. Nobody knows.

Guess what Mary Poppins wrote on the comment pad by the door?  (Proceed to check the comment page... I''ve put the answer there, so there wouldn't be any peeking)

Your Favorite Quote

August 30, 2010

I'm rather surprised at how consistant this whole "challenge" thing is going. But I guess five minutes a day is no trouble.

So day five- my favorite quote. Hum, hum. I collect quotes! How do I come up with a favorite?

"The quality of mercy is not strained." ~William Shakespeare
"We trust not because 'a God' exists, but because 'This God' exists." ~C.S. Lewis.
"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest... For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." ~Jesus
"There are no 'ifs' in God's world." ~Betsie ten Boom
"Doing God's will is like dancing. When two people lead, nothing feels right. Once one notices that and lets the other lead, it's as if the two become one." ~Anonymous
"The best and most beautiful things in life canot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." ~Helen Keller
"You can never know that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have." ~Corrie ten Boom

There! Again this post will be editited, I can assure you. But those are my top quotes for the moment:)

Favorite Book(s)

August 29, 2010

O.K.- I had to change it to books with an 's' again:) What do you know...   Erg, favorite books is a hard one!!! However, I think I'll be able to narrow it down to ones I've really enjoyed:

1) The Count of Monte Cristo
2) Joel Rosenberg's The Last Jihad series. My favorites in that particular series are probably The Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll, and Dead Heat.
3)Wonders Never Cease
4) I love all of Shakespeare, but a couple of my favorites are  A Midsummer Night's Dream, King Lear; I enjoyed parts of Henry VI (Part One), and soon I'm going into competition with Cymbeline.
5) The Princess Adelina
6) I'm in the midst of "To Have and To Hold," and it's an amazing book!
7) The Canterbury Tales is a classic:)
8) I enjoy reading poetry... The Raven is perfect for a thrilling piece.
9) A Girl of the Limberlost
10) Jane Eyre

And... there's probably more on that list, I just can't name them! I'll more than likely be editing and re-editing this post in the next few days...

Favorite TV Program

August 28, 2010

Because I was supposed to start this three days ago, I'm posting my day three.

This is an easy one for me!

1) I love I LOVE LUCY!!!!!
The following is an exerpt from Lucy Does the Tango:

2) The Andy Griffith Show

The ever-popular song Leaning on the Everlasting Arms. You have to watch the rest in order to get this part. Just a teaser!

3) Iron-Chef
I normally watch this with Alexandrea. It makes for a suspenseful television show!

Favorite Movie(s)

As you noticed, I added an 's' for movies too.

And by the way, the post I just posted was started yesterday- but it's published today. It counts as yesterday's.

My favorite movies are:
1) Pride and Prejudice (the Colin Firth six-hour version, please)
And just because I love the Netherfield Ball so much, I'll include a clip of the dance between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett.

2) Amazing Grace

3) Fireproof

4) National Treasure.

5) Facing the Giants

Favorite Song(s)

August 27, 2010

I'm posting for the first day of the thirty-day challenge (see below). Okay, my favorite song.

Wait- song without an 's?'
That doesn't make any sense.

First off, my favorite song is 'Brave,' by Nichole Nordeman:

Then Legacy, by the same artist.
Then Someday Soon and Time in Between by Francesca Battistelli.
And... let's see, I love the song 'Cinderella' by Steven Curtis Chapman.

As far as hmyns go, I LOVE 'Come Thou Fount,' 'Be Thou My Vision,' and 'The Sweetest Type of Heaven.'
The Sweetest Type of Heaven:

And for fun, I love the song 'Singing in the Rain.'

There are probably others, but I can't think of them at the moment....

The Lucy Lovers Unite!

My sweet sister Tiffani has been talking about doing a Lucy Party for a while- and last night, the Lucy-Lovers united for it!

We watched episodes of I Love Lucy, and then acted out our favorite scenes from our favorite episodes. (Kudos to Kendal for coming up with this idea~!)

The Lucy Lovers!!!
(Me, Kendal, Karah, Samandra, and Tiffani)

And introducing... the CRAZY Lucy Lovers!!!
(Me as Lucy dressed up as old lady, Kendal as a golfer, Karah as Lucy on the phone, Samandra as Fred talking to Ricky (or at least I think that's what it was..., and Tiffani as the Vitameatavegamin girl holding the Vitameatavegamin bottle...)

And to quote Miss Traci- "If laughter is the best medicine, their immune systems skyrocketed tonight. They watched 6 episodes and acted out their favorite scenes afterward."

Capturing the Sunset

August 13, 2010

Like I said, I've had a lot to catch up on from the past couple of weeks... that explains why there's so many posts under single days- posts that I've started to write, and then drafted. So here's another:

We were at the beach again, and though it was a bit chilly out (notice the sweatshirts, jackets, etc.), it was an amazing evening to drop by Crystal Cove and watch the sun sink. I took a lot of pictures of the spectacular sun, but the one here is one of the best. And then we got the usual ones of Alexandrea and I "capturing" the sun.

Fun, fun:-)

The Modeling Job

I went to audition for the Westfield Mall fashion show on Monday, was picked for one of the models, and today learned that I'm modeling clothes for Forever21, and shoes for Dales. :D I'm so excited!!!

Here are some pictures of me on the runway at the audition, and then a couple after the audition with Alexandrea and Gracie-Hopie:

Revelation 15:4

August 12, 2010

"Who will not fear You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed."  ~Revelations 15:4

My bag dumped out this afternoon, and out popped this verse on an index card... and I just thought I'd post it, since most verses that pop out pop out for a reason. This particular verse is from our Revelation study all of last year. Isn't it a good verse?

Grace-Hope

Wow, it feels like forever since I last posted anything! Nuts! I suppose I have some plausible excuses, though... such as my aunt, uncle, and cousins came out from Florida, and vacation is coming up and all!

Anyway, we were up at Idyllwild the other day, and Clarke and I were taking snapshots of Grace-Hope. She looks like she's posing, even though she was really trying to avoid the dreaded camera:P

I just have a darling sister!

And then a picture of my lovely cousin to top it off:

Things With Wings

A beautiful piece of nature are dragonflies:) Those lovely 'things with wings.' I got a chance to take several pictures of this one a few weeks ago- enjoy them! There were many more pictures, but these were the best shots.

Backgrounds!

Hey everybody, just wanted to say I'm sorry for your crazed mind (if I'm giving you one, that is:P) I can't seem to find just the right background for my blog, especially with fall coming up and all. Unfortunately to say, I'm still finding the right background, picture, etc. So if you see a particular look you like, just comment and let me know- before it changes again!

I'm working on it, and hopefully I'll find the right look soon:)
